This Touchscreen Technology is designed especially for hotel restaurants/retail outlets and integrates closely into the Visual One Property Management System and the Visual One Accounting System. It is both touch screen and barcode controlled and can operate table service restaurants, Deli and Fast Food outlets, Bars, Spas, and Gift Shops. It is designed as a multiple outlet system operating out of one database. The average system has several table service restaurants, with room service, deli or gift shop and with one or more training outlets for new employee training. Features: *
Outlet Type There
is a switch in the setup screen to indicate the outlet type. Supported
outlet types are: restaurant, gift shop, deli and spa. The order screen
and several other screens are customized for the type’s sales
environment. For example, in the gift shop and deli environment, the
“tip” logic is bypassed. In the gift shop the “retail” type of
credit card interface is used. *
Input Device The normal input device is either touch screen or barcode reader, but the system can be operated with keyboard and mouse. *
Printers Any
number of printers can be attached, however there is usually from one to
four types of work order printers (Hot Line, Cold Line, Bar, Misc.) plus
multiple check printers and one or more report printers. We use Star
work order printers, Seiko, Star or Laser check printers, and the laser
report printers must be HP compatible. Work order printers can be driven
directly from each workstation. A
Print Controller program is also available to drive non-network attached
printers. *
User Identification Users
can identify themselves either by entering a code, or by swiping a
magnetic card. The system can be set to have manager’s ids by one
method and non-managers by the other method.
When the security system disallows a task, the manager can swipe
his/her card to allow it. As with all options, each outlet can choose
different settings. *
Check Types Checks
can print in either with or without item modifiers. For example a steak
can print one line and the second line could show the prep modifier
(Rare) and another line the vegetable. Checks can also be “Detailed”
or “Summary”. On a
summary check lines of like items are added together with a quantity
number. *Languages The
server ordering button captions can operate in up to four languages,
based on the server’s preference. Work orders will print out in the
language the manager selects, and the selection can differ by the work
order printer. For example the hot line can print in Spanish and the Bar
in English. *
Tax Tax
for almost anywhere in the world can be calculated, including Canada’s
dual Vat tax and the European inclusive Vat tax. *Components An
item can be set up to automatically order other items as components. For
example a “Kids Burger Meal” can include a soda, a burger, and
fries. *Door
Knocker An
order can be entered for firing at a specific time either today or
tomorrow. When it fires, the check will print and it will be
automatically posted to the room specified. This is usually used for
breakfast ordering on the previous day. *Room
Postings with Package Plans Room
postings verify the guest’s name and (optionally) the guest credit.
Postings are fed through the front desk package plan logic, and the
restaurant system can actually know what package plan the guest is on
and what items in the catalog are covered by each package plan. This
kind of integration is not possible with other vendor’s systems. *Gift
Certificates Gift
Certificates can be sold at the front desk, gift shop, or restaurants.
The certificates can then be redeemed at any desired location. A
certificate can be used as payment any number of times until its
remaining amount reaches zero.
*
Multi Hotels Room
postings can be done to multiple hotels, if they are on the network, and
if they have the Visual One front desk systems. *Day
End Accounting Extract Two
types of accounting extracts are available: extract to the front desk
(for inclusion in the front desk day end reports), or extract directly
to accounting. The manager
has full control over which method is selected. *Credit
Card Interface The
system connects to all major credit card processors, for automatic
verification and settlement. It can use the same credit card computer as
used by the front desk; with separate merchant numbers per outlet. *Automatic
Service Charge and/or Room Service The
system can automatically add a service charge and/or room service fee by
percent, flat amount, or both. *Security The
manager can control what functions each user is allowed to do. *Reports There are over fifty reports available plus a report generator to create your own. Most
reports can be run for any selected date, today or in the past. Almost
all reports are printed with Crystal Reports and can be printed,
displayed on the screen, faxed, or sent to the disk. *Cash Drawers Two types of cash drawers are supported, printer attached (Star or Seiko), and direct Asynchronous connected drawers. *Pole Displays Pole displays are a supported option. *The V1POS Frequent Diner System When used together, the Visual One Property Management system and the Visual One Point-Of-Sale system can maintain a history of restaurant, gift shop, spa, and deli purchases. Checks that are settled to room accounts are automatically linked to the guest’s history, but any check can be linked to a guest account whether or not the guest has stayed in the property. Reports of the guest’s history can be obtained both in the POS outlet, and at the PMS workstations. The front desk can view a list of the guest’s POS checks and look at each one in detail. A summary is also shown of total revenue, total tips, revenue by category and payment methods. This is the type of close integration for which Visual One is known.

Internal Specifications: The
V1 POS system was totally created with Visual Basic using the Sql Server
database. It is our company’s fourth generation of Restaurant / Gift
Shop point-of-sale system, dating back to our first one in 1978 (which
also had hand held terminals). It operates on almost any version of the
Windows operating system. Its first installation was in the summer of
1999, and it is currently operating in over sixty outlets. Visual One
Systems is committed to keeping the system the best hotel oriented POS
system in the world with unsurpassed integration with the other Visual
One Hotel Management systems.
